Anne Lamott- Post III- Pages 51-88

One early morning in 1986, Anne woke up feeling very ill, and in such dispair, that she thought she was going to die, or quit drinking. So, she took the right of way, and put herself into treatment. After months of friendly treatment, she was out, and ready to get babtised at the church of St. Andrew. Two years later, Anne was pregnant with her boyfriend, and this time, she decides to keep it. In 1989, her first born child, Sam is born.
Later that year, Anne's good friend Pammy is diagnosed with breast cancer, and is beginning to be treated with agressive chemotherapy. So, Anne has two new jobs this year, nursing her best friend, and taking care of Sam.
It is 1992, Sam is three, and Anne is going through some depression over the loss of her most recent whom she thought was the one, she also found out that life is hard without Pammy. She later meets new friends, Tom and Pammy. So, to get away from it all, they go to Ixtapa Mexico.
Two days before Sam turned seven. Anne and him were in Idaho. On one of their daily
mother son walks, they encounter a paraglider, and because Sam's birthday is in 2 days, he is invited to paraglide with a professional, but being compelled by tense mothers, and christian mothers who send their prays for his safety, Anne decides to call it off.

Honestly Hatten, why would we have to do research on the author if we're already reading her life story?

Anne Lamott- Post II- Pages 18-51

As Anne makes her way through high school, she is getting fabulous grades. She doesn't even have any idea that a B+ is a good grade. Her tennis career continued to progress as she approaches the summer of 1970. She had a party-filled high school life. For instance: Smoking marijuana, drinking, partying on boats, lah dee dah. She wasn't exactly friends with many super-religous folk as she was in her early childhood. She spent more time with her religous friends in college.
In college, Anne found that the Jewish people were very cool people, and from her confusion in religion, she decided to start studying Judism. She went so far with Judism that she actually had a Batmitsfah too.
When Annne was twenty three, and out of college for four years, and living with her dad and little brother in a cabin at Duxberry Reef. Her mother was a lawyer in Honolulu by then. Unfortunetly, Anne and her brother found out that her father had a brain tumor, and was going to die in a few years. As those few years passed, and her father did pass away, Anne's depression grew, and so did the amount of drinks and dope. After breaking up with her boyfriend whom she thought she loved she decided to ask about living with some people she used to babysit for about a year. Every day after the people would go to bed, she would at least get tipsy. After that, she moved into her own houseboat. During that time, she got pregnant with her newest boyfriend, but with realization that she couldn't handle that financially or physically she decided to get an abortion. This added even more depression since her father died. So obviously more booze was brought into the subject, but this time, she has church to pull her up once again.

Anne Lamott- Part I- Pages 3-18

To get you familiar with this book, it is told in 1st person by Anne Lamott herself. She tells her stories about her drug life, and her growing faith in god, yet in a humorous way, as told on the back of the book. Now, to sumarize the following pages 3-18, Anne Lamott was born in a small green house,by the railroad tracks near San Fransisco CA with an older and younger brother. Her parents were non-religious people, and never spoke of it, despite that, she made friends with a catholic girl at the age 5, with a mom who made pies with the berries they picked frequently. She spent hours at that house. She also went to church with them, and enjoyed every minute of it, this would be an example of her growing faith in god.
Years later, around the age 13 or so, Anne and her family moved into a castle... Yes, a castle, it even had trapdoors and a dungeon. It was built by a German newlywed couple, with a husband willing to go such an extent to make his wife feel at home in California. Anne made friends with more relgious folk, this time, she met a friend named Shelly, with a mother who was a christian scientist, which Anne's father thought, were more crazy than the catholic relgion. Well, as the financial stress built up in the castle, more alcohol was served, and when Anne was age 13, everyone in the family was drinking alcohol, with the exception of her mother, who had a dream of attending law school.
As the years progressed, Anne was 16, and she was driving in the station wagon with Bee, and her mother. Where after that, she was playing tennis, and drinking and smoking pot on the beach. Often she had access to these from her dad, who actually did these things with them, along with his friends. Her mom accomplished her dream of law school, and was often out of the house, or the castle.

I think Anne is going to go downhill, like most druggies go. Despite her good grades, I think she'll slowing slide into addiction...
